Day 4 - leaving Copenhagen to join 57 other students in Grenaa, for a wonderful three weeks: this is ‘Dansk i Danmark’, a constant global village and Danish paradise. and the weather was exceptional, too!

Danish weather

all that bullshit about Nordic countries being cold throughout the whole year was a lie: this is the third day that I’m spending here in a row, and all the time, the temp was above 25+. today we had a short rain of like 20 minutes, and now the Sun is burning hot again. all the rain has evaporated already… permafrost, huh?

what I found on the way back were Holmen’s Church and The front balcony of the Royal Theater. such a nice way of ending a morning walk.
tomorrow I’ll head at Grenaa to meet my future classmates and participate in a series of programs organised for us (students) to get to know Denmark, the Danish language and last but not least, each other better. can’t wait! what I found on the way back were Holmen’s Church and The front balcony of the Royal Theater. such a nice way of ending a morning walk.

…well I’m not, so here come some more pictures of buildings, like the Old Stock Exchange or Christiansborg Palace with the Castle Island (it really is a wonderful, green island in the sea of monuments). the palace houses the Parliament buliding, some ministries and the PM’s office, mentioning just a few of them. so this is the legislative centre, kind of. it’s a pity that the Royal Stable was under construction, so I couldn’t see any of the fine Danish horses. I got so sad about it that I headed back home. I’m like a typical tourist: capturing anything that gets in my way. but I don’t care, I love vast spaces and pictures that include the most things possible (good old “tájképek”). in between the lot of images of the canal and it’s different perspectives, I have also included one of the Royal Library (‘Det Kongens Bibliotek’, if I’m not mistaken - just wait until the end of August, haha), more precisely of it’s most recent addition, the Black Diamond - the huge and irregular-shaped granite building, as one of my friends pointed that out -. which looks great in the sunshine. this also, has been added to the list of must-sees-from-the-inside. ready for some novelties?… I’m like a typical tourist: capturing anything that gets in my way. but I don’t care, I love vast spaces and pictures that include the most things possible (good old “tájképek”). in between the lot of images of the canal and it’s different perspectives, I have also included one of the Royal Library (‘Det Kongens Bibliotek’, if I’m not mistaken - moving along the inner city streets, one can find other great things as well, such as Town Hall, Palace Hotel, the Central Station building or the Tivoli (Garden) entrance - the interior is must see as well, gotta know why Disney chose this place as a sample, but this will come later. of course, it is not only the sights, but the everyday things that make this city so vibrant: huge crossroads, with separate traffic lanes for cyclists everywhere; thousands of bicycles (all types, from mono- to tricycles, bicycles with various baskets and sitting spaces for up to 3 children, etc.) and their riders; statues and monuments, “minden patinás”, both literally and figuratively. weather is not being gentle with them… moving along the inner city streets, one can find other great things as well, such as Town Hall, Palace Hotel, the Central Station building or the Tivoli (Garden) entrance - the interior is must see as well, gotta know why Disney chose this place as a sample, but this will come later. of course, it is not only the sights, but the everyday things that make this city so vibrant: huge crossroads, with separate traffic lanes for cyclists everywhere; today’s share of sight photos. this is the last day of my free summer as such, so I tried to visit as many main sites as possible. first, some pictures of the Church of Sct. Petri and the Copenhagen Cathedral, along with the building of the University of Copenhagen. great structures, great starter at 10. today’s share of sight photos. this is the last day of my free summer as such, so I tried to visit as many main sites as possible. first, some pictures of the Church of Sct. wonderfully coloured Nyhavn (a street on the shore of a small canal going through the city, full of bars and restaurants). extravagant look, extravagant people. meeting place of those who can afford drinks for 15+ euros. I’d love to be among them in like 10… 20 some years.
and last but not least: Kongens Nytorv, a square full of artists and merchants, advertising their skills and products. this city is just so vibrant… as Budapest (the Váci street - Deák square - Király street - Andrássy avenue - axis) can also be on a busy summer day. still, it is great to see all this, I am falling from one awe to another, and it’s just the second day! looking forward to all the coming ones. wonderfully coloured Nyhavn (a street on the shore of a small canal going through the city, full of bars and restaurants). extravagant look, extravagant people. meeting place of those who can afford drinks for 15+ euros. the Amalienborg Palace, the Marble Church (a distant look at it) Amalienhaven (fountain and ship), the Opera building and the vast, vast blue canal.
more pictures with people (ladies… and when I say that, I blink at you, Joe) on them might be more suitable in case a guy is on a loong trip alone, I am aware of that, but who can say no to making these magnificient views immortal? not me, definitely not me. besides, I’ll have plenty of time to get to know peeps and make friends, this part right here is about my summer for 2013, because I didn’t have any this year until now… the Amalienborg Palace, the Marble Church (a distant look at it) Amalienhaven (fountain and ship), the Opera building and the vast, vast blue canal.
